We propose a novel miniaturized dual-band microstrip patch antenna with improved gain for potential wireless applications. Two variants of the proposed configuration have been optimized and the analyzed results presented. The basic patch antenna is loaded with two pairs of Complementary Split Ring Resonators (CSRR's) on both sides of its non-radiating edges with different dimensions on both sides. The radiation performance of the first variant and its gain is further improved by etching four pairs of CSRR on the ground plane which controls the surface waves effectively. The proposed antenna shows an analyzed gain of 1.80 & 5.67 dB respectively in the two bands 1.68, 2.59 GHz. The antenna may find application in both the ISM (L band) and Wimax applications. In a second variant, the gain is further improved by employing a Reactive Impedance Surface (RIS). In this case, the analyzed gain is found to be 5.69 & 5.12 dB respectively at 2.05, 2.39 GHz. This antenna may be suitable for UMTS and ISM applications. The design dimensions of the patch, CSRR's and the RIS are obtained from expressions available in literature. Subsequently, simulation and optimization of the structures is carried out with Ansys HFSS®; a benchmarked E.M. simulator. The analyzed results are presented.Keywords

An energy efficient and reliable routing protocols for mobility centric applications of wireless sensor network (WSN) such as wildlife monitoring, battlefield surveillance and health monitoring is a great challenge since topology of the network changes frequently. Existing cluster-based mobile routing protocols such as ELFCP-MWSN,LEACH-Mobile, LEACH- mobile Enhanced and CBR-Mobile consider only the energy efficiency of the sensor nodes. However ,reliability of routing protocols by incorporating fault tolerance scheme is significantly important to identify the failure of data link and sensor nodes and recover the transmission path. Most existing mobile routing protocols are not designed as fault tolerant. Moreover, existing mobile routing protocols are not location aware and assume that sensor nodes know their coordinates. In this, we enhanced the existing LFCP-MWSN to ELFCP-MWSN in which we reduce network energy consumptions and slightly less end-to-end data transmission delay than the existing LFCP-MWSN.ELFCP-MWSN also incorporates a simple range free approach to localise sensor nodes during cluster formation and every time a sensor moves into another cluster. Simulation results show that ELFCP-MWSN protocol has about 20-25% less network energy consumptions and slightly less end-to-end data transmission delay than the existing LFCP-MWSN , in our study we try to decrease this percentage of energy consumption and more less end-to-end data transmission.Keywords

Medical image fusion is the tool for the clinical applications. For medical diagnosis, the edges and outlines of the interested objects is more important than other information. Therefore, how to preserve the edge-like features is worthy of investigating for medical image fusion. As we know, the image with higher contrast contains more edge-like features. In terms of this view, this paper proposed a new medical image fusion scheme based on Non Subsampled Contourlet Transform (NSCT) and pixel level fusion rule, which is useful to provide more details about edges at curves. It is used to improve the edge information of fused image by reducing the distortion. This transformation will decompose the image into finer and coarser details and finest details will be decomposed into different resolution in different orientation. The pixel level fusion rule will be applied and low frequency and high frequency coefficients are selected, in these fusion rule we are following Gabor filter bank and Gradient based fusion algorithm. The fused contourlet coefficients are reconstructed by Inverse Non Subsampled Contourlet Transformation (NSCT).The goal of image fusion is to obtain useful complementary information from CT/MRI multimodality images. By this method we can get more complementary information and also Better correlation coefficient, PSNR (Peak-Signal-to-Noise Ratio) and less MSE (Mean square error). The fused image structure segmentation and its analysis will be performed using spatial fuzzy clustering algorithm. This method is proposed to segment normal tissues and abnormal tissues from fused images automatically. Finally results will be presented as segmented tissues with parameter evaluation to show algorithm efficiency.Keywords

Many clustering techniques have been widely developed in order to retrieve, filter, and categorize documents available in the database or even on the Web. The issue to appropriately organize and store the information in terms of documents clustering becomes very crucial for the purpose of knowledge discovery and management. In this work, a hybrid intelligent approach has been proposed to automate the clustering process based on the characteristics of each document represented by the fuzzy concept networks. Through the proposed approach, the useful knowledge can be clustered and then utilized effectively and efficiently. In literature, artificial neural network have been widely applied for the document-clustering applications. However, the number of documents is huge so that it is hard to find the most appropriate ANN parameters in order to get the most appropriate clustering results. Traditionally, these parameters are adjusted manually by the way of trial and error so that it is time consuming and doesn’t guarantee an optimum result. Therefore, a hybrid approach incorporating an evolutionary computation (EC) approach and a Fuzzy Adaptive Resonance Theory (Fuzzy-ART) neural network has been proposed to adjust the Fuzzy-ART parameters automatically.Keywords

Adders are of fundamental importance in a wide variety of digital systems. This paper presents a novel bit block structure which computes propagate signals as carry strength. Power consumption is one of the most significant parameters of carry select adder. The proposed method aims on GDI (Gate Diffusion Input) Technique. Modified GDI is a novel technique for low power digital circuits design further to reduce the swing degradation problem. This techniques allows reduction in power consumption, carry propagation delay and transistor count of the carry select adder. This technique can be used to reduce the number of transistors compared to conventional CSLA and made comparison with known conventional adders which gives that the usage of carry strength signals allows high-speed adders to be realised at lower cost as well as consuming lower power than previous designs. Hence,the proposed architecture mainly concentrating on the area level & reducing the power using modified GDI logic.Keywords

Objectives: The present study has been constituted to assess the coping mechanism strategies of the dry land farmers in Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh.
Methods/ Statistical analysis: To get a complete understanding of the problems prevailing agriculture in dryland areas and the constraints that the farmers face analyse the same. A proportionate sample of 600 farm households from a dissimilar group of Rayalaseema region is chosen from the list of farm households for primary study. The selection of Mandals and villages are based on coverage of drought and drought proneness and also based on rainfall criterion. The sample villages are highly rain fed areas.
Findings: The present study provides the insides from twenty-four villages from the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. The inside from the present micro-level analysis indicates that the adverse impact of drought at the household level. Crop loss was observed to be high in most of the villages. Further, the burden of income loss forced the people into the poverty trap during that period, while the lack of resources and non-existence of institutional support during the drought period adversely affected the income of the families. At that place were local-level coping strategies adopted by the villagers to overcome the adverse effects of drought; these included sales of stock and assets, shift in occupational diversification, migration and other mechanisms. Yet, the community in the other study village coped with the drought by migrating. This involved a distress-led migration rather than developer-oriented migration. People with a few assets, such as smaller landholding size, absence of irrigation, and deficiency of other assets, namely livestock, migrated more compared to the others.
Applications: The present study attempted to analyze the different coping mechanisms adopted, at the household level. Realizing the impact of drought and the coping strategies might provide better inputs for the policy implication.
